- 1 tbsp milk
- 1 egg beaten
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter softened, and unsalted
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¾ tsp baking powder
- 3 cups flour
- powdered sugar for rolling out dough
Sift the flour, baking powder, and salt together.
Place the butter and sugar in a large bowl and beat until light in color.
Add the egg, milk, and beat to combine.
Little by little add the flour and beat until mixture pulls away from the side of the bowl.
Divide the dough in half, wrap it with cling wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours.
Preheat the oven to 190ºC (370ºF).
Sprinkle your surface with powdered sugar where you will roll out the dough.
Remove 1 wrapped pack of dough from the refrigerator at a time.
Sprinkle your rolling pin with powdered sugar.
Roll out the dough to 1 cm (¼ inch) thick. Move the dough around to check underneath frequently to make sure it is not sticking.
If your dough has warmed during the rolling process, place the cold cookie sheet on top for 10 minutes to chill.
Cut into desired shapes, place them at least 2.5 cm (1 inch) apart on a greased baking sheet, and bake for 9 minutes or until cookies turn brown around the edges, rotating cookie sheet halfway through baking time.
Let the cookies sit on the baking sheet for 2 minutes after removal from the oven and then move to complete cooling on a wire rack.
Serve as is or ice as desired.
