This creamy Cremora tart is one of those classic no-bake South African desserts we all grew up with. Made with just a few ingredients and chilled until firm, it’s smooth, tangy and always a crowd-pleaser. Perfect for Sunday lunch or a quick dessert when you’re short on time but still want something sweet and nostalgic.

Classic South African Cremora Tart

A creamy, tangy fridge tart made with powdered Cremora, condensed milk and lemon juice – this no-bake favourite is a sweet, nostalgic South African dessert.

Ingredients
  

  • 500 grams cremora powder
  • 2 cans condensed milk
  • 250 ml lemon juice fresh if possible
  • 250 ml water freezing cold
  • 1 packet tennis biscuits

Instructions
 

  • In a small bowl place the Cremora and add the ice water.
  • Mixing the Cremora and ice water well, add the condensed milk and continue to mix until smooth.
  • Adding the lemon juice bit by bit till all is mixed in and the mixture has thickened.
  • Set aside a few biscuits for the topping and use the rest to line the inner of your dish. Spoon the filling over the biscuit layers.
  • Breaking the biscuits to pieces and crush with a tolling pin. Sprinkle the biscuit crumbs over the filling.
  • Chill in refrigerator for an hour.
